#TeamGuidant share how they look after their mental wellbeing during lockdown
By Guidant Global
With the UK in another national lockdown, being at home and in isolation can bring about a variety of difficult emotions. Whatever you may be feeling, do remember that there is no “right” way to cope during this uncertain time. Today, #TeamGuidant share some of the different ways they have been managing lockdown.
"I regularly go on walks during the day to get some fresh air and try to have a proper lunch with the family, so I still have a routine. Listening to music in between breaks also really sets a more upbeat mood when I'm working from home all day!"
Pinki, Bid Writer
"I've found setting targets really helpful for keeping me active – I've just signed up to the Strava challenge for running 28 miles in February. I try to go for a walk before work every morning, and where possible I set aside time in my calendar to take a proper lunch break. My manager, Claire, and I have a mid-week coffee catch up to talk about things outside of work and I'm in a fortunate position where in my role I work alongside a lot of different people which helps to replace some of the office interactions."
Nat, Service Excellence Consultant
“I have been setting myself challenges each month to give me a focus and goals to achieve outside of work. The challenges have been centred around exercising and adopting healthy habits, such as going vegetarian for 4 weeks and making sure I do a daily Peloton class, even if it’s only a 10-minute class. I have found that keeping myself accountable to achieve these goals and enjoying the ‘small things’ at the weekends – like trying different local coffee shops to compare oat milk lattes for my walks – have really helped my mindset in this very challenging time.”
Jade, Client Services Director
“What really helps me is working on my fitness and being active. The release of endorphins after a workout leaves me feeling good, more relaxed and less anxious. I have signed up to an online target fitness group which keeps me focused on reviewing my progress and working towards achieving my fitness goals. I also complete a 15-minute stretch, yoga and breathing ritual at lunchtime to relax and reenergise me during my working day.”
Ruksana, Talent Manager
“Remember, lockdown isn’t forever – most of this is just a short-term change. I’ve done so many other activities such as building Lego and doing puzzles now instead of spending my Saturday morning indisposed and on the sofa!”
Craig, Sourcing Manager
