International Women’s Day 2021: Choosing to challenge with #TeamGuidant
By Guidant Global
We’re proud to be empowering our people in every way we can. In line with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, #ChooseToChallenge, #TeamGuidant shares their experiences as women in work and their commitment to breaking gender barriers.
As my career has grown within Guidant Global, I truly believe it is because of the culture, equality and diversity. I have always been shown from our leadership that there is a seat at the table for everyone. We are empowered to make decisions and be the best Virtuoso leaders in the company.
The promises we make to be the most trusted staffing company starts from within. I will take the promise to choose to challenge and keep collaborating to empower all women while celebrating what we have done with gender equality so far.
– Jennifer Scanlon, Program Manager
For me I have never felt nor experienced a gender barrier in my career to date with Guidant Global and the wider family of brands under Impellam Group. I feel I can bring my whole self to work, and voice my opinions, views and ideas to be taken onboard. I am fully trusted and empowered to deliver what I am good at doing and am always given opportunities to stretch myself.
Our work environment is such that we can challenge each other irrespective of status and gender. Being a tenacious individual, I will continue to challenge colleagues at all levels in the way that we do things, and more importantly, to deliver the best expertise and service within our industry.
I am fortunate to work alongside some inspirational, strong and influential women not just within Guidant Global, but also, within Impellam Group – many of which I am lucky enough to call my friends as well as trusted colleagues!
– Jane Blackman, Head of Business Transformation
My experience working at Guidant Global has demonstrated to me that our leaders embrace gender equality because they value the increased insight and perspective it brings. It makes our organization stronger. As a woman, my different communication style and thought processes have been appreciated by my leader – we work closely together and have been continuously producing positive outcomes.
My favorite International Women’s Day quote, as I reflect on my time with Guidant Global, is: “Shatter glass ceilings, and don’t be afraid of your feelings.”
– Pamela Osban, Program Manager
When I reflect on my career and my achievements in life, my daughter is right up there at the top of the list. But what also stands out for me is my ability to be a mother while being able to pursue my career. I’m proud of my success in work and I believe it will help inspire my daughter to know that you can be a successful career woman and a great mummy too!
I joined Guidant Global eight years ago. During my first couple of years here, I became a mum for the first time and the support I’ve been shown has been astounding. I’ve felt supported on a number of occasions: throughout maternity leave, when I returned to work with baby brain (it is a real thing), to needing constant changing flexible working patterns as your child grows, and more recently, during COVID-19 and managing home-schooling as a result.
I couldn’t have asked for more from my manager and CEO, Simon Blockley, as well as my amazing team and colleagues throughout the business. I am grateful that I am enabled and empowered every day to continue to grow as a woman in my industry as well as knowing I never have to think twice about the support I receive for my other full-time job of being mum!
Of course, I give that level of commitment and loyalty back to Guidant Global and my team but that doesn’t make it any less of an amazing arrangement. In fact, it reinforces that our ‘People. Lead. Growth.’ strategy is spot on and one that I implore other businesses to adopt!
I am proud to be where I am and thank Guidant Global for supporting my choices and making what I do possible.
– Lou West, Head of Client Solutions
I feel empowered by Guidant Global and have been from my first day as part of #TeamGuidant. I have an amazing support system from my Project Management Office (PMO) team, my manager and peers on other accounts. Every empowered woman needs a great network to challenge and cheer them on.
Through my Guidant Global network, I’ve been empowered with the chance to create work blueprints beyond my region and PMO team. I’ve been empowered to participate in prestigious webinars and virtual summits like ProcureCon. More importantly, I’ve been empowered to establish an avenue for mentorship. Guidant Global has an appetite for mentorship, honest feedback, and peer review that standardizes empowerment.
In the past 6 months, I’ve had more opportunities to mentor and be mentored than I have in the last 12 years. It is imperative to ask for peer and management review because expertise is only limited by experience and no one can experience it all.
Through posts on Workplace (our company social network), focus groups and peer reviews, I’ve gained channels to share, mentor, and acquire expertise through the experience of others. This collaboration and leadership style sets Guidant Global apart from the competition and is empowering for all employees.
2021 is the year I push my empowerment to mentor others and to help them take their next steps towards this year’s #ChooseToChallenge theme. After all, empowered women empower women and men!
– Kelly Montgomery, Program Manager
As the Head of Service Excellence for Guidant Global, my role is to challenge the organisation in relation to how we operate – in essence, to find a better way of doing things.
I’ve been fortunate enough to work for Guidant Global for 12 years. During this time, whether it was my peers, direct managers, or the CEO, I’ve been empowered to challenge how we do things, which gives me the confidence in my abilities as the subject matter expert.
I’m extremely proud to be part of our organisation’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT), where our SLT is majority women. I’ve also been able to work with female colleagues at all levels of the organisation who are able to come to a workplace that recognises the value that they bring.
Gender has never been and is not a factor at Guidant Global – as an organisation we focus on who has the right skills to do the right role.
– Suzy Pill, Head of Service Excellence
We’re proud to be breaking the glass ceiling and challenging each other to be a positive and powerful influence in the world of work. While there is still much to be done around gender equality, we’re committed to supporting our female colleagues in any way we can.
From all of us at Guidant Global, Happy International Women’s Day!
