Supporting the Armed Forces: Guidant Global Achieves Silver Award
By Emma Buckley, Talent Acquisition Manager - Global Managed Services
Guidant Global has been awarded the Silver Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) by the Ministry of Defence’s London Employer Engagement Board!
Supporting this community has been really important to Guidant Global for a long time.
We’re absolutely delighted we’ve been recognised with a silver ERS award for our commitment to diverse and inclusive recruitment, a commitment that will be further enhanced by this award.
To achieve a silver award, we had to demonstrate armed forces-friendly policies and practices and employ at least one member of the armed forces community - as well as meeting a number of other stringent criteria.
What have we done differently this year?
This year, we added interview guarantees for armed forces personnel, veterans, reservists and military spouses. Alongside our flexible working policies and an extra five day’s holiday for reservists, we strive to ensure that no member of the armed forces community is disadvantaged in the world of work.
The flexibility offered was why I joined Guidant.
Within Team Guidant are veterans, reservists and military spouses, including myself. As a military spouse, the flexibility I was afforded by Guidant Global was vital in my decision to join the business. Uprooting your life every two years can really affect your chances of finding job stability, but Guidant gave me the support and flexibility that I needed.
I’m proud to work for a business that values applicants’ skills and motivation above all else, and I’m excited to keep pushing the envelope for socially responsible recruitment.
Transferrable skills within the armed forces
Reservists and veterans have often developed a calmness under pressure, a methodical and organised approach to work, and progressive problem-solving abilities – all highly relevant and transferable skills that we actively seek to recruit into our business.
In addition to being signatories to the Armed Forces Covenant, a pledge to treat the armed forces and their families with fairness and respect in the society they serve, we’re thrilled to receive this recognition – and will continue to build on this in the coming years and beyond.
What is the Employer Recognition Scheme?
The ERS encourages employers to support and provide opportunities to veterans, reservists and military spouses, while inspiring other businesses to do the same.
The scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to the defence and armed forces community, aligning their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
We’re strengthening our commitment to support ex-veterans and their spouses into finding work that’s right for them – all we look for are those with the right work ethic – take a look at our latest vacancies >
