Careers at JCB: Jovan's story

After just over a year in the JCB Backhoe division, Jovan has taken everything he has learned and been promoted to the role of a Material Planner. He tells us all about his journey with JCB so far.

Working for an industry leader
When it comes to why Jovan decided to take on a role at JCB, the answer is easy. “JCB is the one of the most famous brands is the world and the top one in the heavy machinery industry. They are continuously growing as a business and developing their products based on technology and innovation”. And how did Jovan see himself fitting in to this continued growth at JCB? “Top companies require brilliant people, and that’s the kind of environment I always saw myself working in.”

Understanding the business
For Jovan, one of the best things about his work is the scope of his role and how many people across the business he gets to interact with. “The Material Planner roles requires communication with a number of colleagues across several different departments.” It’s a big responsibility but maintaining these relationships with different teams is something Jovan really values. “Speaking with so many people from across JCB on a daily basis, I feel like I’m gaining so much knowledge and insight into how the business operates. Plus, everyone is so lovely and supportive, which makes my day so much easier!”

A demanding but rewarding job
Jovan tells us that being a Material Planner carries a lot of responsibility as it “requires the ability to see the bigger picture and keep up with changing demand”. But for Jovan, putting in the effort is always worth it. “JCB is the product of a lot of hard work form a lot of people. But if you’re ready to work hard, your efforts will be appreciated and that gives you a real satisfaction that you can go home knowing you’ve done a good job”. And speaking of home, how does he relax after a productive day at work? Spending time with family and friends is the perfect way to wind down for me!”
