Careers at JCB: Molly's story

By Daibhid MacCann, Talent Marketing Manager

After just 18 months working for JCB in Cabs Systems, Molly’s career has gone from strength to strength as she gets stuck into her new role as a Team Leader for Loadall Kitting Department.

It runs in the family
When asked what first drew Molly to JCB a year and a half ago, she tells us, “I have a family member who also works at JCB who has always enjoyed his job there, so it felt like quite an obvious step for me to enquire about working there too.” And while a family connection might have given Molly the initial push to apply, once she’d done a bit more research into the company, she realised that “there were clearly opportunities to learn and grow and turn a job into a career, so naturally this felt right for me.”

Taking on more responsibility
In just a year and a half, Molly had already begun to take the direction of her career into her own hands and put herself forward for a Team Leader position in the Loadall Kitting Department. At 24 years old, she’s responsible for her own team, and to Molly, this is one of the best parts of the job. “My team are a real team” she says. “We face challenges daily, however with the good spirit and teamwork amongst us, we always pull through and always deliver.”

Getting the job done
And what exactly does a Loadall Kitting Department Team Leader job entail? Well, Molly tells us that on any given day her and her team will be “responsible for delivering 130 Loadall Kits to the assembly line, all of which will then be turned into cabs, processed and shipped to multiple business units, including a number of key foreign business units.” The responsibilities of her job are not lost on her, but she enjoys a challenge and says that “management are always very supportive, so no task ever feels too big.”

Switching off and winding down
Of course, those who work hard always need to find ways to relax and take time our from work, and for Molly that downtime involves making use of the gym facilities at Cab Systems, which she says can be a “great stress reliever for those days that have been a bit more challenging!”

Working hard and aiming high
Unsurprisingly, Team Leader doesn’t appear to be the end of the road for Molly. “I have a can-do attitude and I’m keen to learn and progress.” And having been made a Team Leader so early in her career, Molly feels “the opportunities are there, and that motivates me to push myself and strive for a better future.” And with her admirable work ethic and desire to keep developing, we don’t doubt that Molly is destined for bigger things too!
