Careers at JCB: Meet the Compact Products Team

Aidan, Joe, Josh, Megan and Karl are all part of one of JCB’s Compact Products teams. They tell us about their experiences at JCB and why teamwork is such an important aspect of their role in the company.

Aidan
Aidan has been working as part of the team for the past four months. Though relatively new to the industry, he tells us that “heard JCB was a great company to work for”, which is the reason he applied. “I wanted to gain more experience and also to give myself a new challenge.” And what’s the best thing about working with his team? “The people themselves! I also really enjoy the challenges we face together every day.” For Aidan, joining JCB has been a great experience – “I’ve enjoyed every day since joining and I haven’t looked back!”

Joe
Joe is one of JCB’s newest recruits, having joined the Compact Products team just 6 weeks ago! “I spent more than 10 years in security roles, so I just fancied a change. I saw JCB as a fantastic opportunity to do something new and challenge myself.” And what has Joe been enjoying most about his new role? “I just love the satisfaction of seeing a machine being build from start to finish and knowing that I’ve been a part of making that happen!” And for Joe, teamwork is important too – “I really enjoy working with my team and the support I get from my colleagues. Obviously, being relatively new, I still have things to learn, but everyone has been really helpful, and I know I can always find someone to give me any advice or guidance I need.”

Josh
Like Joe, Josh is also new to JCB, currently in his fifth week. Though he hasn’t been with the company long, Josh is already starting to appreciate the benefits of working with this team. “The work is enjoyable and the rates of pay are really good.” And, of course, being new to the business, he really values his co-workers in the Compact Products team. “They’re all really good people and we work brilliantly together on the Loadall line.”

Megan
Megan has been with JCB since October 2021 and is really enjoying her job in the Compact Products team. “I applied because I wanted a total career change, which turned out to be a great decision, because I find the work so enjoyable, and it’s made such a positive impact on my life.” But what motivated Megan to choose JCB? “I like to be challenged and to learn new things, and I’ve picked up so many new skills since joining the company.” And in terms of working with her team, Megan tells us “It’s great! I feel like I get the chance to socialise while still getting the work done. They’re brilliant, and we all support each other.”

Karl
Alongside Megan, Karl also joined JCB in October of 2021, and is also part of the Compact Products team. For Karl, applying to JCB was a bit of a no-brainer. “JCB is a really reputable company and it’s close to where I live, so it was a really easy decision for me.” The ultimate goal for Karl is to work towards a permanent contract. “It’s worth putting in the effort and do a good job, because there are lots of additional benefits to becoming a permanent JCB employee!” And what’s the best thing about his role? “The people. You’re just surrounded by people every day, and there’s such a good atmosphere. We all work hard, but there’s a social aspect to it too and it’s great to interact with everybody.”
