Celebrating Pride Month: Chicago Pride Fest

​In celebration of Pride Month, a few of #TeamGuidant made it out to Chicago Pride Fest, which was arranged by our LGBTQ+ business resource group (BRG), IMProud, part of our internal wider ED&I council, UNITY.

Currently, I’m the co-lead for IMProud BRG as well as a member of the IMWomxn BRG.
When the UNITY BRGs were launched, I decided to join the LGBTQ+ group, IMProud, to expand my knowledge in equity, diversity and inclusion and how this could benefit our organization from a hiring perspective due to Impellam already being on the fast track of growth.

As a committed ally to the LGBTQ+ community and a true empath for the greater good, I felt it was almost a calling to step in and give others that equal opportunity to use their voices, listen, learn and influence positive change.

This experience has been primal in both my professional and personal growth journey.
I have been able to form meaningful, lasting connections with others across the business and have learned so much more about the LGBTQ+ community. Through those relationships I have formed, they have helped me understand our people and business with a more humanistic approach.

Being a part of our UNITY council has been fulfilling in that we are taking a stance on social matters that impact its’ members, but also creating tangible change within the business that speak volume to inclusivity and progressive measures, as the staffing industry and overall job market is always ever evolving.

Chicago Pride has been widely popular for decades now and I wanted to attend, to demonstrate the deep love and pride I have for this city and the LGBTQ+ community.

The highlight of Chicago Pride Fest was...
All the happiness, love, and acceptance floating in the energy! One of my favorite parts was when all of us at our booth were working together, unified as one, teaching those coming up to us about who we are and what we stand for, creating more foot traffic and connections than anticipated!

Carrying Guidant core values in everything I do.
I am the Program Director for the IT labor category at one of our Energy and Utility clients. This means I drive innovative solutions to helping our client’s engagement managers to solve their staffing problems!

While I'm currently not in any business resource groups, I see myself as an ally for the LGBTQ+ community and I try to carry Guidant core values into everything I do. Inclusivity, sustainability, and advancing my community are at the heart of my mission statement!

This was my first time at an IMProud event.
It was great to get to work with people so passionate about inclusivity in the LGBTQ+ space. Our business resource groups are a testament to Impellam employees who want to give back to their communities and the world. The fact that Impellam provides everyone an opportunity to give back is amazing.

I attended Chicago Pride Fest to support my coworkers in their mission to support more individuals from underrepresented communities into providing them opportunities within the STEM space.

If we get to attend again next year, I’d love to join!
This event was about getting the Impellam community together to share the amazing service offerings we have for the Chicago community. I’m so happy I was able to be a part of the event. I want to take a second to say thank you to those who organized it and to our leadership team for sponsoring the event.
