JOB OUTLINE
A vacancy has arisen in the rectification team within the actuarial practice in London. This is a rapidly growing team and represents an exciting opportunity to be involved in GMP equalisation and other rectification projects.
GMP equalisation is currently a subject on the agenda for all Trustees' meetings. This role represents an opportunity to be at the forefront of this area.
The primary purpose of the role is to assist in the provision of advice in relation to GMP equalisation and other rectification exercises and to deliver the results to clients.
The role involves the following:
- Working on client projects relating to GMP equalisation / conversion, NRA equalisation and other rectification projects with personal targets set, aligned to client delivery;
- External contact with third parties and clients; and
- Support of team members through coaching and mentoring.
The purpose of the team is:
- To advise clients in relation to benefit rectification projects both for ongoing pension schemes and those heading towards buy in / out or wind up;
- To carry out benefit rectification projects, liaising with other departments where required; and
- To provide technical support to the rest of the department.
The key duties / responsibilities of the Actuarial Consultant / Senior Actuarial Analyst are:
- Supervising and checking work of junior team members;
- Signing off work that has been checked by other team members;
- Working directly with actuaries and consultants;
- Acting as the primary point of client contact on some projects;
- Attending client meetings;
- Supporting colleagues through checking and feedback to enhance quality of work and development of others' capabilities;
- Taking responsibility for own learning and development, keeping up to date with pensions' regulatory developments and procedures;
- Supporting the management of the team's workflow to achieve client delivery; and
- Providing a two way communication channel for the team to maximise motivation and team success.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS REQUIRED
- A numerical based degree with a minimum of a 2:1 level achieved;
- A qualified or near qualified actuary;
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a pensions consulting/technical environment;
- Strong pensions knowledge,
- Experienced user of Microsoft Excel;
- Good communication skills;
- Meticulous attention to detail; and
- Able to work as part of a team.
