Job Outline

As a member of the Systems Engineering team you will be responsible for all the practical aspects of the Assembly Integration and Test of the aircraft and ground station. You will be part of a team of people who perform the final assembly of the aircraft and then do the formal testing of the whole system.

Tasks and Responsibilities

This is very much a hand's on role where you will be part of a small team of people dedicated to the final assembly of the very large but lightweight carbon fibre aircraft.

You will be involved with the installation of:

· The wing surfaces

· wiring harness

· Smaller mechanical support structures and avionics units.

· Upon completion of the aircraft you will be required to:

· Follow the assembly & test procedures to configure and test the aircraft.

· Be involved in the testing of the whole system once the aircraft is connected to the ground station which culminates in a 24/7 multi day soak test where the system is operated as if it were flying in the air.

· Liaise with the PA Manager and AIT Lead Engineer to ensure all aspects of the plans are followed including holding test reviews and producing test results and completing the aircraft and ground station technical logbooks.

Accountabilities:

  • Following the assembly and test procedures to ensure a high level of assurance that the aircraft and system is fit for flight.

Skills and Experience

· Hands on experience in mechanical engineering, wiring harnesses, soldering and testing complex electronic systems, preferably in the aviation or space industry.

· Recent experience with carbon fibre structures and be able to solder to a high standard such as ECSS space standards.

· Strong at reading and understanding written procedures and be able to produce test reports.

· Ability to work as a team member but also work independent of others is essential.

· A good understanding of and be able to fault find software, electronic hardware, RF data links and communications protocols and understanding how they are all interlinked within the system.

· Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills and be methodical in your approach.

· Computer literate and able to write both textual & graphical based documents.
