The role
East Ayrshire Lisalanna Project provides a short break respite service throughout the year to upwards of 25 families and our residential service currently provides long term support for 2 young people. The young people who attend our project have a variety of disabilities and some display challenging behaviour. Both services are collocated with the Lisalanna service in Cumnock, East Ayrshire.
We are looking for an Assistant Residential Worker, who will work across both our respite and residential services. Our Short Breaks Service provides a service throughout the year to upwards of 25 families. Our residential services currently provide long term support for two young people, our respite service accommodates a maximum of 3 young people. The young people who access our services have various learning disabilities, complex health needs and / or challenging behaviour. Both services are co-located within Lisalanna in Cumnock.
The rota of 16 hrs per week could be a combination of our early (7am-2.30pm), mid (2pm-10pm) or night shift (10pm-7.15am) or it could be a combination of shorter shifts depending on what the service requirements are.
You will make a difference by:
- Developing meaningful, nurturing and professional relationships with a focus on the rights and responsibilities of children and young people.
- Supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes for their future.
- Assisting children and young people with medical needs.
- Groviding a safe environment for them to enjoy time with their friends.
- Giving families the break they need to continue supporting their amazing children.
- Assisting the children and young people in all aspects of their care, supporting their health and wellbeing where you'll significantly improve their lives.
- Ensuring young people have the opportunity to be independent and are able to communicate their needs.
You will need:
- Ideally, an SVQ Level 3 Children and Young People & HNC in Social Care or equivalent which would meet the registration requirements. (We may consider applicants without required qualifications with willingness to work towards gaining qualifications).
- Flexibility in working patterns for the needs of the service including evenings.
- Experience of working in a residential care setting and undertaking personal care as required.
- The ability to record and update case notes, written and electronically.
- Safeguarding knowledge.
- Full driving licence and own vehicle would be beneficial but not essential due to location of Lisalanna.
