The role

As an Assistant Residential Worker you will be working across Stoneside Short Breaks Service which provides a service throughout the year to upwards of 35 families. Our respite service accommodates maximum 4 young people at any one time who have various learning disabilities or challenging behaviour. Both services are combined with the stoneside family support service in the south side of Glasgow.

There is a residential service attached to the project for 3 young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour who live there on a permanent basis. There will be occasions that there will be a necessity to cover shifts in this service where the service needs require it.


You will make a difference by:

-Supporting children to achieve positive outcomes for their future.

-Supporting with medical needs or support during all working hours if needed for the young person.

-Assisting the residential workers in their planned schedule & supporting the service.

-Providing a safe environment for the residents to enjoy time with their friends.

-Giving families the break they need to continue supporting their children.

-Assisting the children in all aspects of their care and supporting their health and wellbeing.

-Being a figure that can be trusted by the residents of the service.



You will need:

-SVQ Level 3 Children and Young People or HNC in Social care or the academic equivalent desirable

-Experience of working with children/young people with disabilities and/or challenging behaviour.

-Experience of working in a residential care setting and undertaking personal care.

-Be caring, compassionate and committed to making a difference.

-Flexibility in working patterns and for the needs of the service including evenings and weekends.

-Safeguarding knowledge.

-Knowledge of GIRFEC and National Care Standards.
