The role
Our Place is a newly opened, OFSTED registered, 4 bedded permanent residential unit for children and young people aged between 8 - 18 who have various learning and physical disabilities.
We are looking for a Casual Assistant Residential Worker who will help our team provide a safe and caring environment supporting the children with household tasks and all aspects of their care. We are looking for someone who has a compassionate and positive attitude, is adaptable to changing situations and has excellent communication skills. Your rota will have a mix of early shifts (7.30-16.30), late shifts (14.00-21.30) and sleep in's (9.30 start, finish 10.00 next day). There is also opportunity to do waking night shifts (21.30-7.30). Annual leave is payable on top of your hourly rate.
You will make a difference by:
- Supporting children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and clinical procedures in line with the services policies and procedures.
- Contributing to the development and evaluation of care plans and risk assessments.
- Ensuring safeguarding practices are in place.
- Planning and executing activities for service users to promote a healthy and positive lifestyle.
- Promoting independence and Equality & Diversity throughout the service.
You will need:
- Previous experience and knowledge working with Service users with Learning Disabilities and Physical Disabilities and challenging behaviour.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care would be desirable but not essential.
- Previous experience in a residential setting, or similar.
- The ability to work well within a team.
- The ability to use own initiative.
