The Gilmerton Road support service is an intensive support service for young people with challenging behaviour, intellectual disabilities and additional support needs.

The services are structured around the following services: Short Breaks, Outreach Support both community and building based, after-school provision, complimentary education provision and an assessment-based support service for young people in the local areas.

We are looking for a Domestic to work 16 hours a week which will be Monday to Friday 9am to 12pm and one hour a week for staff meetings. You will ensure that all areas of the project are maintained and kept to a high standard. You will be working when the Children and young people are likely to be present at times when you are required to work. You will require a PVG check for this reason.

By replenishing cleaning materials and any other stocks as required

By keeping all areas free from hazards

By ensuring all bins are emptied to minimise any fire risk

By reporting any breakages or any concerns to Management

By working within Action for Children's policies and procedures

What will you need?

  • A willingness to understand the issues faced by young people
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to work on your own initiative with good problem solving skills
  • A Food Hygiene certificate is desirable
  • The ability to prioritise and plan your schedule on a daily basis.
  • A good knowledge of COSHH and Health and Safety at work.
  • An understanding of Safeguarding
  • The willingness to complete training which is relevant to your role.
