Purpose of the Job
As a Delivery Driver, you'll have a real 'front line' role. Essentially, you'll be the welcoming face of our business - the helpful driver who delivers Herts FullStop's own blend of quality and outstanding service to our customers' doors.
Within this role, you will:
· Complete customer deliveries and collections of all types in line with our high standards
· Operate your vehicle in a safe, legal and economical manner at all times.
· Follow all safety and legal procedures.
You'll become a brand ambassador and represent us out on the road and with every single customer you meet, so you should have the highest levels of customer service. Energy, flexibility and friendliness go a long way in this role, so we'll expect you to always deliver service with a smile.
Main Areas of Responsibility
· Transportation and delivery of goods from the depot to customers' sites, encompassing unloading and delivery into customers' premises (including delivery to multiple points/desktops within a customer premises). Encompasses the utilisation of e-pod technology to ensure accuracy of deliveries, completion of delivery documentation, information flow to the main depot and information flow to the customers.
Within this responsibility drivers have full responsibility for vehicle security, product security, compliance including defect reporting, and managing compliance to legal standards.
· Drivers have responsibility for loading and un-loading of the vehicles at the depot, including the secure and documented transfer of waste collections. This will encompass the utilisation of e-pod technology to ensure accuracy.
Drivers shall ensure that the vehicle is loaded correctly and in the correct order for the delivery cycle. Ensure that the vehicle is not overloaded and that there are no health and safety issues with the load.
· During the busy periods, Drivers will assist with the picking and packing of orders.
· Drivers shall manage all returns of goods and collection/transfer of non-confidential and confidential waste from customer premises, including bagging and sealing. This responsibility encompasses the accurate completion of all documentation (electronic via e-pod devices and in hard copy format) including returns documentation and waste transfer notices.
· The drivers are responsible for compliance with EN15713, which covers the security of the waste being transported and transferred. In addition, drivers will undergo a basic DBS on a 3-yearly basis in support of this responsibility.
· Drivers will utilise telematics devices to maximise driver efficiency through route compliance, driver behaviour, driver analytics and automated defect management.
· Customer Retention - Drivers are the front-line interface between Herts FullStop and its customers and are accountable in respect to customer satisfaction, positive on-site relationship management and ensuring that the customer always has a positive delivery experience with no customer request being deemed unreasonable unless on the grounds of health and safety
· Generation of Operational Sales Opportunities - As part of the front-line interface between Herts FullStop and its customers drivers will support:
i. The capture of customer data through e-pod devices and via driver debrief sessions.
ii. The identification and reporting of competitor activities (via the identification competitor stock on customer premises and reporting via driver debrief sessions. The aim of which is to identify key staff members and raise the prospect of a "deal" if the staff member speaks to the Herts FullStop Customer Account Manager
iii. Distribution of promotional material verbally and in hard copy format
iv. Monitor the customer's stock on site and prompt the customer to place orders, using either the paper based or electronic system that is in place.
The duties and responsibilities listed above describe the post as it is at present. The post holder is expected to accept any reasonable alterations that may from time to time be necessary.
Criminal Background Check
Safeguarding children and adults is of utmost importance to Herts FullStop. Herts FullStop requires employees to abide by legislation and best practice to enable Herts FullStop to achieve this. This role has been identified as requiring a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check or Basic Disclosure. You must therefore ensure that any relevant criminal record check application is completed and returned as requested by Herts FullStop, as this is deemed a contractual requirement of employment. In addition, you consent to allow Herts FullStop to retain a copy of the disclosure certificate within your personal file.
It is a contractual obligation to disclose any cautions, reprimands or convictions and to update your manager of any changes to your status whilst in employment. Enhanced DBS roles will be reviewed periodically during employment, by means of DBS Dip Sample or three yearly rechecks. Failure to disclose changes to your status may be detrimental to your employment and you may be subject to disciplinary action.

Person Specification
1. Ideally you will hold a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification and C1 Driving Licence entitlement allowing you to drive 7.5t vehicles. However, for the right candidate we will fund training for you to achieve these qualifications/standards.
You must however hold a full valid driving licence.
2. Personable with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to work within a team.
3. Comfortable communicating with customers in a positive manner and acting as the public face of the business.
4. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, while executing requirements as planned.
