Overview:
We are recruiting for a Senior EHS Manager on behalf of an International Chemical Manufacturer based in Swindon.
This role is initially a 3-6 month contract with possibility of extension. Reports to the Managing Director on site.
Successful candidate will be expected to "hit the ground running", will ideally come from a Chemical Manufacturing background and be capable of providing consultative and hands-on EHS assistance to the site.
Principal Accountabilities:
Provide up-to-date, relevant and proactive EHS advice
Ensure compliance with relevant EHS legislation
Develop, maintain and implement EHS policies and procedures in line with business needs that support overall EHS strategic goals
Develop and implement effective strategies, structures and systems for the management of EHS
Assess and measure the effectiveness and impact of EHS activity and address accordingly
Continuously review the arrangements for environment, health and safety and recommend changes and improvements as required
Lead the development of the EHS Improvement Plan and co-ordinate activities required to achieve it
Assist as necessary in the investigation, monitoring and reporting of accident, incident, dangerous occurrences & injury and prepare reports for management
Identify EHS training needs in order to develop and deliver effective and appropriate EHS training and development programmes
Responsible for maintaining and managing conditions and requirements set out in site environmental permits
Leadership of Behavioural Safety activities including regular survey and action planning
Collaborates with and advises relevant departments to support Process Safety
Liaise and co-ordinate activity with the regulatory agencies as required
Lead monthly employee and management safety review process
Responsible for Group EHS data reporting
Lead EHS change management activities
Involvement in site wellness and occupational health
Candidate Specification:
NEBOSH Diploma Qualified
Demonstrable EHS Management experience in a complex, multi-site and diverse organisation
Capable of providing direction as well as assistance to site including heavy involvement with the Operations and Technology Departments
Will have a clear understanding of legislative frameworks, regulations, codes of practice and the workings of statutory agencies
Experience liaising with the Environment Agency
Experience working with a Chemical Manufacturing environment is highly advantageous
