Pay Rate: up to £46.00 per hour PAYE and up to £60.00 per hour through an Umbrella Company
Overview of the Electrical Architect/Engineer role and the department you will be assigned to:
You will be a valued member of the Missile Architecture team and you will be involved in all aspects of missile development, from the early concept studies to series production and in-service support. It's an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to build on their engineering experience.
You will be responsible for the electrical architecture and requirements for missile and/or associated launcher systems with duties including:
- Defining the optimum electrical architecture against requirements.
- Specifying communication and processing architecture.
- Specifying the power architecture, including power budget and power profiles.
- Signal safety design, including routing of safety related signals.
- Specifying interface definitions and characteristics between subsystems/equipment.
- Determining requirements for EMC, bonding, grounding and screening.
- Supporting test activities during integration and system qualification.
- Reviewing and authoring guidelines/processes.
- Working to defence/industry standards.
Alternatively, acting as the Equipment Manager (RMO) for specific electrical/electronic equipment(s) you will:
- Own all of the requirements for the equipment(s).
- Produce Statement(s) of Work for the associated design authority.
- Create and update plans showing activities for the equipment(s).
- Technically manage internal & external suppliers for delivery of the equipment(s) work packages to time, cost, quality and performance requirements.
- Project manage the equipment(s) on behalf of the project.
- Review qualification verification evidence.
For both activities you will control assigned budget(s) and manage your personal workload.
The successful Electrical Architect/Engineer will have the following skills and experience to carry out the duties assigned to the role:
Technical Experience Required
- Electrical/electronics
- Interfaces
- Data communication
- Knowledge of defence/industry standards, etc.
- Degree level qualification in a related subject. Ideally this would be within a defence related background, however, experience within other engineering industries will also be considered.
Experience within these other areas are also of interest but not essential
- Power supplies
- Sensors
- Actuators
- Health Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS)
- ATEX regulations.
The role is based in Stevenage which offers excellent transport links, is in close proximity to London Stansstead Airport and is commutable from Hitchen, Letchworth Garden City, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Hertford, Bishop's Stortford, Hoddesdon and Harlow.
Due to the nature of the work our client is involved with, suitable candidates will already be SC cleared or eligible to gain this level of clearance.
