Energy Sustainability Officer

Hyde is looking to recruit a new Energy Sustainability Officer. This is a newly created position provides a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate, wants to pursue a career within Energy and sustainability and has previous work experience delivering community heating services or energy management for a housing provider.

The main purpose of the role is to work with the Energy & Sustainability Manager to develop and implement new processes and ways of working to measure and manage Hyde's energy consumption, costs and emissions. This includes community heating systems, heat networks, office sites, communal energy use and renewable energy systems. You will be working on new projects and helping shape to deliver and validate energy, carbon and cost reductions whilst identify and implementing energy efficiency measures, low carbon solutions and operational best practices.

Duties

  • Manage the energy provider for the community heating provision and work with the team to deliver a customer driven service
  • Identify and implement energy efficiency measures, low and zero carbon solutions and operational best practices
  • Identify problematic energy consumption patterns and validate savings achieved by energy saving measures.
  • Attend regular progress meetings with service providers.
  • Undertaking contract management including controlling budgets and ensuring adherence to Hyde's Health &Safety policies including Asbestos and CDM.
  • Produce specifications of works and work with service providers to deliver them.
  • Identify innovative solutions based on analysis of cost, benefits and risk to Hyde.
  • Lead and deliver projects, including developing the initial business case to achieve efficiencies to community heating schemes and other communal energy use.
  • Support the Energy &Sustainability Manager to develop site utility management plans to ensure efficient control of Hyde's property.

Person Specification

  • Experience in energy efficiency and wider sustainable energy is required
  • Specific energy efficiency / low carbon qualifications are desirable
  • Project management skills, with ability to manage multiple complex work-streams and clients, ability to manage budgets
  • Ability to interpret energy data and use as a basis for reduction strategies
  • Knowledge of Low and zero carbon technologies
  • High energy and passionate about the Green Agenda
