The EHS Controller would act on behalf of the Head of Operations to support, facilitate and conduct activities to secure the rigorous implementation of Airbus EHS policy and procedures.
Responsibilities
- The implementation of a Local Electronic Safety Management System that achieves company requirements and alignment to ISO 45001.
- Risk Management with clear and concise assessments with realistic and achievable countermeasure that are cost effective, which are maintained within the local risk register.
- To cooperate with and seek direction and advice from the EHS team on matters of EHS strategy, policy, process, as necessary.
- To produce and support the implementation of appropriate local procedures, support the writing and verification of method statements and systems as required by legislation, policy or risk assessment.
- To evaluate local EHS performance data and provide the business unit with information on possible areas of concern and support in root cause analysis to rectify problem areas.
- To facilitate monthly EHS review meetings within the business and ensure senior management and employee representatives are involved.
- To facilitate effective communication of EHS matters through the local management structure.
- To monitor and track the progress of local EHS improvement actions using the applicable action tracking system, ensuring escalation where required.
- To provide appropriate representation and support during the introduction of new plant, equipment and methods of work within the business.
- To provide the initial point of contact within the business for all operational EHS issues such as induction, visitors and support the EHS team where required for Insurers and enforcement agencies.
- To assist the Head of Operations in preparing and implementing plans that meet the requirements of EHS Policy, including:
- Defined Operational areas including flow of product, ensuring welfare is at the forefront of decision making.
- Risk assessment, risk reduction and risk review plans.
- Environmental management plans.
- EHS training plans and support for toolbox talks.
- Local Emergency Management Plans.
- To brief local management, TU Safety Representatives and others on EHS process changes.
- To work in partnership with their local Trade Union Safety Representatives.
- AOS implementation management, environment and safety.
Skill Set
Essential
- NEBOSH Occupational Health and Safety Certificate or equivalent - as part of continual development the successful candidate must be willing to achieve Nebosh Safety Diploma within an agreed timescales.
- Demonstrated experience in reporting to and working with key stakeholders to implement safety related projects/ tasks.
- First-hand experience of formal risk assessment techniques.
- Relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing and technical working environments.
- A considerate team player who also has the ability to work autonomously on their own initiative with a positive attitude whilst working to the expected Airbus behaviours.
- A clear understanding of the pragmatic and practical application of health and safety standards.
- Good working knowledge of office IT systems and software.
Desirable
- Experience of machinery safety and / or Construction Design & Management.
- Knowledge of Environment risk management.
- Project management skills.
- Occupational Hygiene knowledge.
