The role
Northumberland Children's Centres offer a one-stop shop for Children and their families and it is a vital part of our work. As an Early Help Family Worker, you will be working in our Northumberland Central Locality Cluster which covers Ashington, Bedlington, Choppington, Ellington, Morpeth, Lynemouth, Pegswood and Newbiggin communities. This role will cover 5 days, 9-5pm, between Monday to Friday.
As part of the role you will work within a team to manage a family support caseload and will work independently to develop outreach services. You will be instrumental in delivering parenting programmes to targeted groups to help parents / carers develop greater understanding of their child's social, emotional, intellectual and health needs. You will have an understanding of confidentiality and will hold the child at the centre of everything you do.
You will make a difference by:
- Providing family support to families as required, with the agreement and supervision of your line manager.
- Working in partnership with parents/carers to help them develop greater understanding of their child's social, emotional, intellectual and health needs.
- Assisting the Centre Co-ordinator in the development and delivery of the Children's Centre Services.
- Initiating, involving and maintaining participation of local parents/carers in all aspects of the Children's Centre services by encouraging and enabling parents/carers.
You will need:
- NNEB, NVQ Level 3 in Early Years and Education or equivalent.
- Exposure to working within a multi-agency social care, early years or health environment and applying safeguarding procedures.
- Experience of managing cases, in accordance with agreed procedures and completing assessments, planning and reviews to ensure positive outcomes.
- Working knowledge of an outcome based approach to planning, delivering and reviewing services.
- A driving license and access to a vehicle is desirable.
