The purpose of the General Builder is to undertake high standard building repairs, maintenance and refurbishment activities to Housing Properties, delivering high customer service and satisfying all safety, quality and cost control standards.
Work will be predominantly focused on visiting occupied properties, delivering repairs and maintenance works.
- 42.5 hours per week- 37 hrs will be paid at standard rate and 5.5 hours will be paid at a time and a half.
- Preferred Start date: ASAP
- Contract length: ongoing
- Transport - will be provided with a fuel card and vehicle for working hours (Full Driving License required)
- Main Duties
- Replacing/repairing small walls
- Re-pointing brickwork
- Lifting and relaying slabs (with existing or new as necessary) including preparing sub bases for works
- Installing cavity trays
- Replacing lintels
- Removing brickwork and clearing cavities
- Repairing external cracks/faults to brickwork by grinding out installing metal ties.
- Installing metal handrails
- Remove existing, prepare sub base and install new concrete paths.
- Carry out concrete repairs as required.
- Carry out repairs to render
- Installing vents
- Carry out gutter clears
- Replacing/repairing large/whole walls
- Building external steps to a property (complicated)
- Qualification: City and Guilds or NQF level 3 or equivalent in bricklaying trade discipline
- Standard DBS required - the successful applicant works in locations with vulnerable people i.e. shelter schemes
