Our client is a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, and they are currently looking for an experienced General Operator - Looming to perform manufacturing and self-certification duties, as well as sub-assembly components. This is an excellent opportunity to join the leaders in missile and defence and grow within their innovative initiatives.

The chosen candidate will create certification procedures, set workmanship standards, and manage budgets and timelines to achieve project goals.

What we're looking for:

  • Proficient in dexterity for precise tasks.
  • Ability to read and understand layouts.
  • Adherence to instructions.
  • Flexibility to work varying shift patterns.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Completed ESD training.

Additional skills:

  • PC literate.
  • Basic Microsoft Skills
  • Microelectronics experience

Tentatively work across several departments, these might include:

  1. Looming: binding wire looming is a cable assembly that efficiently distributes electrical signals by linking cables together using a crimping tool. (Ex; wiring, root wiring, and fibre optics cabling),
  2. PEC and CCA Assembly
  3. Plastics Department (Ex; applying glues, cutting out intricate patterns, and moulding).
  4. Manufacturing Control/ Stores (Kitting, SAP, Picking goods inwards).
  5. Must be comfortable working under a microscope for most of the work.

What you'll get to do as a General Operator (BA):

  • Perform precise assembly and manufacturing tasks according to established procedures, quality standards, safety protocols, and deadlines.
  • Help streamline the flow of work and information in the manufacturing area.
  • Adhere in all activities to agreed standards and behaviours.
  • Comply with all health and safety requirements.
  • IPC 610 certified / trained preferred.

During circuit board assembly, tasks such as glueing, cutting intricate patterns, and moulding are performed. Protective coatings are applied manually using small paint brushes and masking tape to cover specific sections of the boards.
