The role
Action for Children protects and supports children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support, ensuring their voices are heard, and campaigning to bring lasting improvements to their lives.
We are looking for a Head of IT and Digital Transformations to work alongside the Director and senior leadership team implementing the new technology strategy through the operational teams.
You will provide leadership that drives the delivery of our infrastructure, service desk and business application teams whilst proactively seeking new opportunities for digital transformation that support our ambition to work as efficiently and effectively so we can focus on meeting the needs of the children that need us.
You will make a difference by:
-Providing direct and indirect management of the specialist and technical IT teams, utilising Action for Children policies and procedures and experience to motivate and drive performance.
-Lead the identification and implementation of digital transformation opportunities and change processes as part of the wider technology strategy that will help to drive organisational efficiency and effectiveness.
-Overseeing the development of relevant organisational technology policies, standards, governance and performance metrics, to ensure IT delivers value to the organisation.
-Implementing continuous-improvement programmes across technology that support achievement of organisational strategic objectives, in particular the provision of data and analytics tooling and process optimisation practices that drive sustainable improvements and business performance.
-Provide in-depth technical expertise and direction in support of organisation wide decisions.
You will need:
- A Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field; or equivalent work experience.
-Experience managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.
-Extensive knowledge of infrastructure planning and operations, design, and deployment, as well as system life cycle management.
-Strong business acumen and business planning skills.
-Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to effectively deploy resources and manage multiple projects of diverse scopes in a cross-functional environment.
-Extensive experience in a technology and digital transformation leadership role bringing experience of designing, owning and evaluating organisational transformations and delivering large scale change that add value from data and information.
