An experienced HR Advisor (L4) is required to work on a contract assignment for 3 months, with the possibility of a further extension supporting our prestigious Defence client based at their site in Stevenage.

Overview of your role and the department you will be assigned to:

An opportunity has arisen for an HR Advisor within the Operations business, partnering team to work closely with functional teams as well as within the wider HR function.

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Coach, influence and advise the relevant business area in all matters relating to people management ensuring effective people management activity (e.g. retention, capability, performance management, sickness absence, talent management) within the Electronic Engineering function
  • Work closely with the business area acting as the key contact for complex people issues providing advice and solutions
  • Coach, advise and influence the relevant business area to ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies and procedures
  • Become an established member of the management team to identify development opportunities, coach the management team through all people issues and help develop their management style
  • Work closely with the Function/Department Heads to understand the business challenges and the people issues that may arise
  • Organise and prioritise own workload ensuring all deadlines are met, reviewing and monitoring priorities to ensure quality and standards are maintained
  • Ensure international/national HR calendar activities are delivered within time and to quality

You will have the following skills and experience to carry out your duties:

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, ability to flex and adapt and be resilient through periods of change
  • Previous experience of working as a HR Advisor / HR Business partner and ideally worked in an engineering-based business before but open to other industry backgrounds
  • Established ability to build constructive working relationships and use effective coaching and influencing skills
  • Excellent practical knowledge and understanding of Employment Law
  • Ability to appreciate and seek to resolve complex organisational and business problems
  • Strong consultancy problem solving, coaching and facilitation skills
  • The ability to work in ambiguous situations and create clarity from them
  • The ability to influence other HR functions to support business requirements

Due to the nature of the work our client is involved with, suitable candidates will already be SC cleared or eligible to gain this level of clearance.

The role is based in Stevenage which offers excellent transport links, is in close proximity to London Stansted Airport and is commutable from Hitchen, Letchworth Garden City, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Hertford, Bishop's Stortford, Hoddesdon and Harlow.
