About the Role

As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will:

  • Chair independent fostering reviews and statutory reviews for children in care

  • Ensure children's care plans are robust, timely, and outcome-focused

  • Monitor local authority performance in relation to care planning and permanence

  • Ensure the child's voice is central to decision-making

  • Provide independent challenge to promote best practice and accountability

  • Work closely with social workers, foster carers, and multi-agency partners

This role is central to maintaining high standards and ensuring that children's needs remain the priority at every stage of their journey.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration

  • Experience working as an Independent Reviewing Officer or in a senior children's social care role

  • Strong knowledge of fostering regulations and statutory review processes

  • Confidence in chairing meetings and constructively challenging practice

  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and child-centred practice
