The role
The Action For Children Business Systems department provides development and maintenance/support for a range of corporate and children's service specific applications. Within the Systems Integration team, we design, develop, test, implement, document and maintain data/process interfaces between internal and external applications/databases on various platforms using the following tools/languages:
- Logic Apps/JSON
- Data Factory
- SSIS/SQL Stored procedures
- Supplier APIs
- Other (e.g. Powershelll, C#) where necessary
The successful applicant will work closely with the Integration Architect to apply authoritative skills and expertise to deliver organisation wide solutions to the appropriate technical, quality and process standards applying an established project management methodology.
Although the role is based at our head office in Watford, we are working from home for the foreseeable future. Action For Children provides modern, high quality software tools for remote working.
You will make a difference by:
- Providing technical support within the specialist area of expertise for IT development projects, to also aid with the designing and guiding the implementation of their requirements, including preparation of documentation and training for other IS staff.
- Working closely and collaboratively with stakeholders to understand and define business requirements to enable the efficient, effective and innovative use of IT within their functions.
- Assisting with the development, monitoring and to regularly test, service and apply disaster recovery procedures for key information systems and ICT infrastructure elements, including backup and system recovery and responding immediately or referring to senior management risks identified.
- Planning, managing, testing, releasing and implementing significant changes to our systems, infrastructure or service provision, ensuring that effective change control is maintained, and records and documentation produced.
You will need:
- An IS related Degree, HND or equivalent with certified or specialist training.
- A thorough understanding of SQL programming and SQL Server DBMS tools, both on premise and in Azure.
- A thorough understanding of database design and normalization.
- An understanding of application programming languages.
- An understanding of Azure foundations, Networking, Virtual Machines & Storage.
- Experience with customisation and configuration of IT systems.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, therefore strong communications skills are key.
- Experience of proactively monitoring and maintaining IT Systems and Infrastructure.
- An understanding of the ITIL framework.
