Interconnects Design Engineer

37 hours; FT (Hybrid work 1-2 DPW)

MBDA, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, are currently seeking an experienced Interconnects Design Engineer to join their growing Interconnects team. As a part of this team, you will be responsible for designing custom electrical interconnects and cables suitable for transmitting power, signal, and data between subsystems in their products.

What we're looking for:

Individuals who are interested in the job position must be able to prove their experience in designing cables and harnesses. This includes:

  • Minimum with 2-5 years' experience in using E3.Cable and related products including E3.Formboard and E3.3D Transformer is preferred.
  • The ability to define, deploy, and refine processes and best practices within E3, including electrical topology, wiring schematics, and 2D manufacturing drawing processes and standards.
  • "The skill to create and provide technical guidance for E3 users."
  • A comprehensive understanding of product data and change management is required, ideally within a system like Windchill or a similar platform.
  • The ability to design cable assemblies based upon electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, volt drop, EMC and environmental requirements.
  • Appreciation of cable assembly production/process engineering.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience of PTC CREO Cabling would be beneficial.

What you'll get to do as an Interconnects Design Engineer:

  • Understanding sub-system requirements and translating them into electrical schematics and cable design definitions using Zuken E3.
  • Providing assistance, guidance, and resolving issues for E3 users.
  • Incorporate and integrate Zuken E3 throughout the product development lifecycle.
