Industrial Maintenance Technician

The Industrial Maintenance organisation provides maintenance across a broad range of installed assets within the Broughton Plant. These assets include mechanical and electrical CNC machinery, conventional production machinery, paint shops and chemical processing plants. The asset park is serviced by a mix of internal skilled Maintenance Technicians and contractors.

Operating on shifts and reporting to the Maintenance Process Manager, Maintenance Technicians are responsible for undertaking both preventative and corrective maintenance tasks. Given the nature of some maintenance activities, Technicians are required to be experienced in hazard identification and control and to have a mindset which puts Safety as the priority.

Accountabilities

  • Understand and comply with Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments
  • Undertake Dynamic Risk Assessments
  • Undertake prescribed preventative maintenance tasks and contribute to their improvement.
  • Undertake corrective breakdown repairs and contribute to their future elimination.
  • Develop and maintain effective customers and key stakeholder relationships.
  • Maintain records in a Computerised Maintenance Management System

Requirements

  • Time served Maintenance Technician / Fitter or equivalent experience.
  • HNC in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
  • Background in mechanical, electrical, chemical or automated equipment maintenance
  • Competent in fault finding and problem diagnosis.
  • Ability to read and follow maintenance procedures and schematic drawings.
  • Experience of working with controls for hazardous environments e.g working at heights, chemicals, electricity, stored energy, confined spaces etc.
  • Siemens PLC systems and controls experience
  • Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Sound working knowledge of hardware / software interfacing for field bus devices is preferable
  • Experience of working with automated handling equipment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills in English
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good level of computer literacy and experience of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
