Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the AIT Operations team to consistently produce items that meet all quality requirements according to the production plan.
  • Follow methods and procedures as described in the Local Document System (LDS), complying with standard processes, specific area requirements, and health and safety regulations.
  • Promote and adhere to Cleanroom Regulations, local health and safety requirements, and the 5S policy within your work area.
  • Report progress to the Lead Technician or Team Lead as needed and provide input during shop floor meetings.
  • Actively participate in maintaining 5S disciplines and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support trainees within the department when required.
  • Be flexible and mobile across MAIT operational teams, providing support based on your skill set and business workload requirements.
  • Occasionally work off-site, either in the UK or abroad.
  • Participate in shift handovers, ensuring smooth job progression through shift changes.
  • Attend and complete training set by the management team.

Daily Tasks:

  • Assemble and finalise aluminium composite panels, including:
    • Inserting panels with the correct type of mechanical fasteners.
    • Potting of inserts.
    • Bonding various brackets and equipment.
    • Using adhesives to bond inserts, components, and sub-assemblies to drawing specifications.
  • Ensure all work meets required quality standards and procedural guidelines.
  • Maintain health and safety disciplines in the composite area.
  • Perform self-inspection.
  • Read and understand detailed engineering drawings and procedures.
  • Use various hand and air tools.
  • Adhere to all company health and safety procedures.
  • Meet high tolerance requirements (typically better than 0.05mm in various areas).

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience in a manual handling role.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Experience in a production/manufacturing environment with regular use of hand tools.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work instructions/manuals.
  • Comfortable working to tight time frames with demanding quality requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Relevant experience in carbon fibre.
  • Ability to work from detailed drawings and electronic work instructions within specific procedures.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces above floor level (working at height).
  • Experience working in a clean room environment and as part of a team.
