Working as part of a small, dedicated team, within the automated PFD plants of the IS&S business, carry out NDT examinations on aircraft materials and components in line with engineering requirements, with a high degree of autonomy. Candidates must hold EN4179 (or equivalent) Level 2 in Penetrant Flaw Detection. and will be expected to work a selected shift pattern, which will attract a shift premium of 20-38% dependent on selected shift, as well as some overtime.
Tasks & accountabilities
- Nondestructive testing of aircraft materials & components across IS&S business areas.
- Operation of the automated PFD plant in line with the manufacturing instruction
- Ensure start of shift control checks are completed.
- Carry out automated and manual PFD inspections.
- Support business delivery expectations.
- PPS Support.
- External Audit support.
- Carry out performance checks on in-house NDT Instrumentation.
- Maintain personal approvals in accordance with the applicable NDT certification scheme and in line with business requirements.
- Available to travel for training and examination purposes.
Required skills
Essential:
- EN4179 (or equivalent) Level 2 qualification in Penetrant flaw detection
- Experience in testing and inspection methods for Metallic materials
- Served a technical apprenticeship, preferably in the Aircraft manufacturing industry
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to work autonomously as well as part of a small team
- Strong organizational skills together with a high degree of self-motivation and flexibility in order to meet tight deadlines demanded of the team
Desirable:
- Familiar with SAP systems and processes
- Knowledge of other NDT methods
