Placements Officer - Brokerage Accommodation Team

Based at Farnham House with a Hybrid working set up

3 month placement

£16.63 per hour

This is a fast-paced environment, therefore having experience of working in a complex multi-agency environment including work with health, voluntary and community sector, District and Borough Councils and the independent sector would be to you advantage. You'll need to be able to work under pressure and be extremely well organised, taking a pro-active approach to your workload.

Skills

  • Maintain a strategic oversight of the placements of the council's looked-after children, in order to maximize efficient use of current resources and establish future need
  • Establish and maintain arrangements for the efficient procurement of external placements for looked after children, maintaining an oversight of the cost of individual placements
  • To develop and maintain and operate systems for assessment and monitoring of placement quality, including but not limited to undertaking assessment and monitoring visits to external placements, investigation of complaints about providers and making recommendations about the use of particular placements
  • To assist on duty and inbox and cover administrative task to meet service needs when required.
  • Ability to understand and utilise information, in order to broker effective placements and packages of care, to ensure improved outcomes for young people.
  • Ability to communicate by telephone with refers / providers who may be under pressure and experiencing stress in their professional lives, de-escalating anxiety and managing difficult conversations effectively.
  • Ability to respond calmly to emergency referrals and broker effective solutions under pressure.

  • Ability to produce a good standard of written information.
  • Confident communicator and ability to challenge social work practice and decision making.
  • Ability to negotiate / hold discussions with external providers, senior managers and or social workers to ensure the best outcome for young people.
  • Ability to train academy social workers on Child Looked After placement processes.
  • Ability to understand and utilise data, in order to broker effective placements, to ensure improved outcomes for children.
  • Ability to use ICT systems for recording work and communication; and for researching information about children to inform placement choices.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to support effective collaborations.
  • Problem Solving Skills.
  • Ability to research and identify alternative provisions to meet need.
