Process Engineer, Contract, Stevenage
Outline
Our prestigious client requires a Process Engineer to provide support to the Operations, Engineering, Production and Manufacturing divisions supporting the production of Client's fully integrated Satellite Telecoms Products.
Focus
The focus for this role will be electrical harnessing for thermal and electro-mechanical components
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide Manufacturing Engineering support to Operations as and when needed
- Support the generation of standard documentation in line with scheduled needs.
- Produce re-work instructions / deviation plans / discrepancies based on project requirements and identify parts and tooling required to carry them out.
- Support quality reviews and Root Cause Analysis using lean tools
- Support Lessons Learned exercises at key milestones involving all key stakeholders
- Ensure feedback is provided from the clean room and to the Process Owners to update and improves current processes removing non-quality.
- Support R&D and R&T for process developments and new process implementation
- Support training module creation, maintenance & Delivery.
- Ensure where possible that ME process and procedures are standardised, optimised, current and usable to identify future improvements.
- Design of day to day operational tooling / manufacturing aids for manufacture execution
- Support the use of MGSE and Tooling and ensure feedback is provided to the team for issues and improvements.
- Review documentation and conduct safety reviews to support critical handling activities.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
- A background in an aerospace engineering environment, preferably within the space sector
- High level technical skills and relevant experience.
- Procedures and process control.
- Able to work offsite (UK and abroad) for undefined periods at short notice.
- Work overtime and occasional shifts, as and when required.
- Able to support out of normal hours work using the "on call" rota process, as and when required.
- Team working and team leading skills.
- Practical and proactive.
- Process and Quality driven approach with high attention to detail.
- High self-motivation and ability to deal with changing priorities on a multi project basis.
- Good planning skills and process competence (MRP system experience an advantage).
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Previous experience of aerospace structures and build requirements is a distinct advantage.
- Good time management.
- Experience of electrical harness manufacture and manufacturing engineering for thermal and/or electro mechanical components, including electrical testing.
- Use of Windchill, P6, IPS, 3D live, 3D experience or other similar systems
- Understanding of build documentation to ensure clear instructions are given to shop floor operators.
- Driving build quality through review of processes and implementation of improvements
- Good understanding and detailed experience of mechanical engineering and systems, including but not limited to:
- Lean manufacturing techniques including 5S, root cause analysis and continuous improvement (Green belt).
- Manufacturing / Test processes for the space industry.
- Mechanical handling of equipment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION LEVEL:
- Minimum of HNC level in an Electrical discipline.
- A lesser qualification is acceptable if a high level of similar industry experience can be demonstrated such as a time served engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
OTHER:
- Ad hoc shifts and overtime plus "on call" work will be a part of the role as will overseas trave
- The successful candidate will be required to apply for and receive a DBS certificate prior to commencement of the contract.
- The successful candidate must also be prepared to undertake the relevant level of security clearance required.
