Welcoming our Service:
We have a fixed term position for a Registered Manager to join our team in Edinburgh. The role will be to manage & develop our Short Break service and Outreach service. This an intensive support service for young people with challenging behaviour, intellectual disabilities and additional support needs.
The Gilmerton Road Support Services is structured around the following services: Short Breaks, Outreach Support both community and building based, after-school provision, complimentary education provision and an assessment-based support service for young people in the local areas.
As the Registered Manager you will oversee and develop a passionate team who will improve the outcomes for children and young people. Working within the Health and Social Care Standards; My support, my life and with particular focus on the Principles within the Standards; Dignity & Respect, Compassion, Be included, Responsive care and support and Wellbeing you will ensure a high quality of care is proved to all young people..
What is the role?
As Registered Manager you will work with a range of professionals to ensure the children and young people you support develop to their full potential. You will lead, inspire and motivate your team to deliver meaningful support that changes children's lives. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining the culture across the services that seeks to support staff to provide high quality care.
You will also have a duty to liaise closely with the Care Inspectorate and Scottish Social Services Council to ensure regulatory compliance and excellence. You will be actively supported in your role and provide you and your team with specialist training, development and supervision.
What will you need?
A qualification in both SVQ4 in Social Services for Children and Young People although we would welcome individuals with an SVQ 3 in Health and Social Care and a willingness to work towards the SVQ 4. A relevant management qualification for social care will put you at an advantage, however we absolutely welcome candidates to apply who do not possess a management qualification but are willing to study for one.
- Experience of working in a child-based environment, in similar support packages.
- Experience in Management of a large team working towards an outcome.
- Experience of juggling high workload and demands in an ever-changing environment
- Experience of idea transformation to a successful work model.
- Experience of supporting children and young people with additional needs and or disabilities.
- Experience in support staff through reflective supervision practices.
- An understanding of the core needs of a child and how the work that we provide can cater towards this.
- The ability to communicate effectively and clearly with all stakeholders with the service.
- A close understanding of disability issues, attachment theory and Leadership styles.
- Knowledge of the Health and Social Care Standards; My support, my life, GIRFEC and SHANARRI and how these apply to the work we do.
