Here at Syngenta, we're looking for three talented apprentices to join the Applied Chemical Science Apprenticeship Scheme in September 2019. During our 5 year Scientific Apprenticeship Scheme, you'll be paid to gain a degree level qualification via the University of Kent and we'll cover all your tuition fees, keeping you debt free.
Not only that, you'll be doing work that matters from day 1, making a contribution and helping to shape the future of agriculture by transforming how crops are grown and how food is produced across the globe. As part of Syngenta's Research and Development team, you'll be joining a world-leading agriculture company, helping to improve global food safety with a collaborative, trusted team of 28,000 colleagues in more than 90 countries.
What will you do?
You'll be based 4 days per week at Syngenta's Jealott's Hill International Research Centre near Bracknell, our largest site for new agrochemical R&D and product support. As an Applied Chemical Science Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to spend time in multiple technical areas enabling you to experience many different aspects of science and wide range of projects before deciding on your future career direction.
As well as on the job learning, working on real projects supported by experienced scientists, you'll also spend 1 day per week working on course work for your degree via distance learning in partnership with The University of Kent. Over 5 years you will gain the main qualification of a BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Chemical Sciences and will also benefit from Syngenta's professional development.
If you show the qualities we're looking for you will then be offered a permanent position following your degree.
What do you need?
In order to be successful, you'll need:
At least five GCSE passes (or equivalent), including English Language and Mathematics at grade 4 or above.
At least two subjects at A-level (or equivalent) including Chemistry.
Alternatively applicants must have completed a level 3 Laboratory Technician qualification in a relevant science discipline.
Good technical aptitude and communication skills.
You'll also need to be pro-active self-starter who can work as part of a collaborative team.
