Reporting directly to the Catalyst Technologies UK Procurement Manager you will be responsible for ensuring delivery of all Procurement targets; site specific procurement and local implementation of Group-led and Sector Business Unit led spend categories (including capital and operational expenditure) and manages supplier performance. You will also undertake activities to ensure the efficient and effective strategic procurement of a defined portfolio ensuring procurement activities are in accordance with the Procurement Excellence strategy, goals and Group Procurement Policy/Standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Act in accordance with JM values and bring to life the One Procurement Community (OPC) to enable JM's Procurement Excellence strategy.
- Work in accordance with the Group Procurement Operating Model, Group Policies and Standards, the Sector Business Unit procurement activities from category strategy development to contract, implementation and supplier management and may include supporting other sites, categories and/or sector business units.
- Enable effective business partnership for the category or site for the development and improvement of defined categories in line with business requirements, optimising security of supply, commercial agility, drives responsibly sourced sustainable value, which contributes to business profitability and cash flow.
- Work to identify, develop and implement improved supply-side initiatives to deliver sustainable value, appropriate quality and service, and a secure, safe, cost effective and ethical supply base.
- Conduct research on potential suppliers and vendors, promotions and other industry trends as a source of accurate and up to date information to compliment Group insights for procurement activities.
- Negotiate and develop formal supply agreements for defined site categories of spend.
- Provide monthly/quarterly price updates. Discuss strategies, priorities and issues with business management, and advise budget holders and experts in choosing suppliers and products.
- Manage supplier relationships and build a comprehensive understanding of extended supply chains (ideally back to source and applicate waste streams), and general industry market intelligence.
- Contributing to the development of the Group-led category strategy or Sector Business Unit led and site categories. Contribute to and/or managing sourcing cycle for defined portfolio.
- Executing the outcome of category strategies and sourcing action plans to effective implementation. Support the team to successfully deliver the plan and realise intended value at the site/sector business unit.
- Provide information and impact assessments to Group Procurement to set Group-led procurement strategies and plans and excellently execute them.
- Support attainment of site/sector business unit stakeholder commitment and deliver cost/risk/innovation/value-based projects, developing excellent collaboration with Group Procurement.
- Identify, evaluate and capitalise on opportunities to reduce procurement costs by improving the businesses procurement patterns and supply channels.
- Support implementation and compliance to policies, procedures and controls to ensure effective procurement activities and vendor execution.
- Support business improvement initiatives across programmes of work to ensure that the strategic goals of the business and Procurement are met.
- Contribute to the performance and output of the team to drive change and develop, implement, optimise and/or continuously improve work processes, techniques and systems and delivery supply side saving projects in accordance with Group targets.
- Supports relevant internal and external (e.g. ISO) compliance and registration audits.
- Support Procurement Lead to ensure full compliance with applicable JM/sector business unit legislative, regulatory, audit, EHS and Group Procurement ethical standards, policies, procedures and processes including Supplier Change Due Diligence and Supplier Code of Conduct.
- Ensure collection and analysis of key cost drivers, market dynamics, short and longer-term security of supply and issues, areas for innovation and alternative suppliers.
- Secure critical EHS, regulatory, REACH and other fiscal data on suppliers and ensure the data captured in relevant databases.
- Analyse all suppliers recommended price changes. Escalate issues to Group Procurement for Group-led suppliers. Negotiate and manage Plant supply agreements and contracts.
- Support Procurement Lead and team members in implementing EHS improvements and driving attainment of sustainability/responsible sourcing goals.
Are you the ideal candidate?
You will have/be:
- Functional Procurement experience managing direct and indirect categories within a Plant. Knowledge and experience of best practice category management, sourcing, contract management and supplier performance management practices.
- The ability to operate effectively in different cultures and across geographies, including managing stakeholders and colleagues remotely (across distance and time zones).
- Experienced in successfully leading and conducting the negotiation of contracts across technical, commercial and legal areas.
- Effective interpersonal skills and have the ability to champion the vision of the Procurement organisation.
- Ability to facilitate several activities at any one time, prioritising workload and effectively communicate current positions.
- MCIPS qualified or prepared to work towards the qualifications.
