Introducing Spring First Steps.

Spring First Steps is located within the Osmaston/Allenton Children's Centre providing childcare for young children aged 2-5years.

There are two rooms within the nursery, 2-3years (Toddler Room) and 3-5years (Preschool Room).

Our nurseries provide an energetic and inclusive environment for children to discover their individuality and confidence before going to school; a safe place for them to freely explore. We can only do this if we have the right early years professionals working for us. As an Senior Early Years Practitioner, you'll be helping to run the nursery and give the children the right start.

You will:

  • Lead staff on learning programmes for individuals or groups of children, making programmes appropriate to their needs and developmental stages.
  • Work with your nursery management colleagues on specific areas of development and taking accountability for their success.
  • Manage resources effectively and deploy staff appropriately throughout the nursery to respond to the needs of the children.
  • Prepare and supervise dedicated areas / rooms within the setting, creating a stimulating and rewarding environment that meets the children's individual needs, keeping accurate records and regularly communicating with parents / carers.
  • Manage groups of children, ensuring planned activities are fun and engaging, and maintaining health and safety.
  • Meet each of the children's individual needs, Have a positive attitude, making every day count for the children in our care.

What will you need?

  • A Level 3 Early Years and Childcare qualification e.g. NNEB, CACHE, NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent.
  • Experience of working and leading in an Early Years childcare setting or with children aged 0-5 years.
  • An understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues for children aged 0-5 years.
  • Full understanding of children's emotional, physical, psychological and educational developmental needs from 0 to 5 years.
