The role
Baby Steps a 'relationships-based' antenatal parent education programme, mostly delivered in a group setting. Baby Steps is particularly suitable for vulnerable and socially excluded parents who often face additional challenges and 'overload' in pregnancy and in early parenting. This is the group that the Better Start Bradford Baby Steps is designed for. Parents join in mid pregnancy and continue till around 2 months after their baby is born. The Baby Steps programme was developed by the National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children [NSPCC] nationally and has previously been delivered by their local service throughout the Bradford district.
As a Service Coordinator, you will be managing and leading a team to provide a wide range of services to children, young people and families, enabling positive outcomes to be achieved.
You will make a difference by:
- Leading as well as covering the delivery of the Baby Steps Project if cover is unavailable.
- Ensuring there is a strategic drive of the service at all times.
- Attending multi agency meetings with commissioners and other stakeholders.
- Ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are in place across the service.
- Building and supporting a strong team by line managing, supervising and training them to achieve positive outcomes.
You will need:
- To be Midwife Qualified.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role.
- Previous experience working with parents is Essential.
- Previous experience delivering parenting programmes would be an advantage.
