The UK's trusted Ministry of Defence partner, MBDA, are looking for a Simulation & Modelling Engineer in Stevenage to work within a dynamic team working on a fast-moving and challenging project.

As a Simulation & Modelling Engineer with previous experience, you will play a vital role in designing and developing MBDA's complex guided weapon systems products.

What we're looking for:

An appropriate competent Engineering Degree or master's, e.g. (Systems or Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics).

  • Simulation and Modelling - preferably on Aerospace projects.
  • The MathWorks products - specifically Simulink, Embedded MATLAB and Stateflow.
  • Ability to produce a computer simulation (/Simulink model) from a mathematical specification.
  • Understanding of the modelling process and working within a quality process.
  • Rational Team Concert (or similar Configuration and Management Tools).
  • DOORS (or similar Requirement Management Tools); C, FORTRAN, or Ada.

What you'll get to do as a Simulation & Modelling Engineer:

Models are developed for multiple purposes throughout the lifecycle of the product, which is at the core of the System Engineering process:

  • Models to support initial feasibility and concept proving studies.
  • Models to support design development and trade-off studies.
  • Models to sustain ground testing, including Hardware in the Loop testing.
  • Models to support trials programmes, including trials predictions utilised as a part of the fit-to-fire decision and post-trial analysis for detailed trials evaluation.
  • Complete system reference models used to produce formal performance statements to support the certificate of design and design verification processes for the guided weapon system.

The Simulation and Modelling team is responsible for the development models as follows:

  • Responsible for developing specific aspects of the performance model used to support an essential programme within MBDA.
  • Responsible for integrating components from within the team and from other project areas.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, test, reviews and supporting documentation
  • Maintain appropriate design records and ensure compliance with proper quality standards.
  • Associate autonomously with the other functional teams (Guidance Navigation & Control, Software, Hardware-in-the-Loop, Systems Design & Validation and Technical Quality).
  • Perform technical analyses and investigations into a full range of issues and problems and prepare and develop solutions individually or as a project team member.
  • Engage with the model users, understand, and respond to their needs and ensure that the model fits its intended use.

This role is based at MBDA's headquarters in Stevenage which plays a key part in missiles operations. The site also offers excellent transportation links and boasts an onsite gym and coffee shop. Training and development are offered to all employees.
