Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week (9:00am - 5:00pm)
Pay: Up to 25.80 an hour


About the Role

We are currently seeking two experienced and committed Advanced Social Workers to join our Children in Care team in Derbyshire on a temporary basis. This role is ideal for those with a strong background in working with children in care who are passionate about making a lasting difference in the lives of young people.


Key Responsibilities

  • Hold a manageable caseload of children in care and maintain regular visits to them, including at their placements.

  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with children and young people to ensure their voices are heard and their needs met.

  • Be a strong advocate for children in care and promote their wellbeing and outcomes at every opportunity.

  • Respond to the needs of children through both planned interventions and crisis support, working in line with Derbyshire's procedures and statutory requirements.

  • Contribute to a team culture that believes "we do not give up on our children."


Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker (Degree/DipSW/CQSW) and registered with Social Work England.

  • Significant experience working with children in care within a statutory social work setting.

  • In-depth knowledge of children in care processes, care planning, permanence, and relevant legislation.

  • Ability to manage your own time effectively and work independently with strong organisation skills.

  • Confident in using IT systems for case recording and communication.

  • Willingness and ability to travel to children's placements across Derbyshire as required.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting, therapeutic relationships with young people, particularly those with complex needs and attachment difficulties.

  • Committed to Derbyshire's values and practice model, including upholding the team ethos of perseverance and child advocacy.
