Hybrid working office at Cheltenham Duration of contract: 12 months £600 - £650 per day inside IR35

We're currently seeking to hire an ambitious Software Build expert to work with our exceptional client in a secure environment, supporting challenging and highly rewarding projects.

These contract roles will require you to have a valid and active DV security clearance prior to assignment. Opportunities are available in Cheltenham.

This Software Build Expert role is conducted in an environment that is far from ordinary, therefore, we're not looking for ordinary. You'll have the potential to work effectively across a diverse range of projects spanning multiple business units, such as communications, facilities, education, security and technical development.

You need to have excellent communication, organisation and delivery skills, with the ability to multi-task, analyse, plan and problem-solve with ease.

Your experience:

In order to be successful, you'll also require:

• Candidate is able to be given a problem with loose outcome-based requirements, in uncertain situations, to perform analysis, derive technical requirements, produce designs, and implement solutions.
• Is able to effectively perform whole-lifecycle engineering functions, irrespective of delivery methodology in use, interpret complex information, and communicate effectively with the team and stakeholders.
• Is responsible for identifying constraints, risks, and issues associated with own work, and for raising these with appropriate team members and stakeholders.
• Is able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, where there may be gaps in knowledge that require independent analysis and up-skilling, providing leadership in areas of specialism.
• Experience in common software languages (e.g. C++, Java, Python), build technologies, tooling, and process (e.g. CMake, Autotools, Maven, Conan, PyPI).
• Experience in build, CI, and CD tooling and pipeline customisation, for delivering project-specific requirements in collaboration with partner organisations.
• Experience in working with both development and infrastructure teams to design and deliver enabling solutions for project development.
• Experience in working on ways to structure, improve, and automate development processes; DevOps/ArchOps/SRE.
• Experience in working with Linux-based environments (RedHat, CentOS, Rocky), using containerisation (Docker/Podman), and virtualisation (corporate and bespoke provisioning).
