PAYE only - 13.80 per hour

Work within a team of Metal Controllers through effective communication, training and ensures accordance with Johnson Matthey policies and practices with respect to safety, and other related regulatory requirements. Assures that all metal movements are recorded properly and improves processes to reduce possible losses. Optimize the inventory level and accuracy by managing the metal stock and all internal and external flows.

Coordinate the flow of materials, general stock, and equipment in compliance with Johnson Matthey (JM) policies. Responsible for execution of all material control activities within working area and provide support for relevant departments as needed. Maintain and update material control and inventory systems.

EHS, Quality and Security

  • Adheres to and supports EHS principles to ensure that EHS is given top priority and good practice is followed at all times.
  • Initiates and drives EHS improvements with focus on reducing lost time accidents, injuries and near misses.
  • Focus on reduction of accidents / near misses by taking responsibility for EHS change and ensuring a high level of compliance.
  • Adheres to JM security policies and follows standard procedures while on site as outlined in employee induction.

Planning, Delivery, Cost

  • Develop a strong understanding of Metal Control process at NM Royston.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and process customer and support department orders while monitoring stock levels and using root cause analysis to rectify any process flow related obstacles.
  • Review, analyze and interpret production data and anticipate any problems with the flow of materials.
  • Operate and maintain efficient supply chain administration processes, including order of materials & reagents in addition to managing the intake and flow of material within the production cycle.
  • Support the Metal Control Team Leader with the development and delivery of the daily management cycle - identifying abnormal operating conditions, risks and opportunities, Communicating and escalating as appropriate and expediting problem resolution.
  • Manage Inventory, understand the inventory profile, identify slow moving inventory and develop action plans to reduce inventory
  • Ensures that all metal is accurately weighed and recorded in and out, and material shipped and received is of the required minimum purity as indicated by commercial specifications.
  • Complete scheduled stocktake tasks, taking ownership of stock in own area and accurately documents all metal movements to reduce inventory holding with focus on profitability.
  • Monitor and execute periodic physical inventories to ensure accurate storage conditions and order inventory efficiently according to plan as needed.
  • Ensure all materials are stored in the appropriate area and are maintained in compliance with quality and safety standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies and in compliance with JM regulations.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of data and assist Finance/Accounting, Purchasing, Quality units, safety, and other JM staff in obtaining reports.
  • Reviews and resolves inventory discrepancies and ensures variances are resolved, communicating and escalating as appropriate and expediting problem resolution.
  • Ensure orders and deliveries of raw materials/ finished goods are accurately and promptly reconciled.
  • Order, schedule, and provide oversight for stocking, distribution, and documentation of precious metal in an efficient manor according to production plan.
  • In conjunction with Material Control Team Leader, ensure that all priorities are met for the handling and distribution of all materials, per the direction of SOPs.
  • Ensure that all shipments are processed within the required timelines and in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that all storage condition alarms are answered, and action is taken to avoid any deviations.

People

  • Provide mutual support for the Production and Logistics teams, assuring adequate cover for Metal Control activities in all areas to suit production.
  • Works with the group through effective communication, and acts in accordance with Johnson Matthey policies and identifies and raises continuous improvement initiatives.
  • To take on any other duties which are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed
  • Working independently and with the team members to attain successful outcomes and business objectives.
  • Take ownership of own training to ensure adequate cover to meet production plan.

Lean, 5s

  • Takes ownership of 5s duties in working are with active participation in continuous improvement.
  • Review, monitor and maintain Standard work instruction in NM Metal control on sharepoint to ensure work processes remain up to date and are followed correctly.
  • Support LEAN implementation in the operational area to deliver improvements in culture and measurable financial and efficiency benefits.
  • Leads projects to improve efficient use of metal and reduce loss by implementing cost saving ideas across department.
  • Use Root cause analysis tools to reduce and eliminate nonconformances in the work are and continuously improve the production area.
