The UK's trusted Ministry of Defence partner, MBDA, are looking for a skilled Missile Systems Architect based at the Bristol site to deliver systems engineering abilities to major programmes developing the latest Complex Weapons capabilities for the UK Armed Forces in response to advanced threats in all domains (Air, Land, Sea).

As a Systems Architect, the successful candidate will foresee assignment to concept, assessment phase or demonstration phase contracts, developing one of the many MBDA product lines.

What we're looking for:

  • Practical application of systems engineering processes to develop and define the systems architecture and functional design for complex, safety-critical and high integrity products, ideally within the defence, aerospace, or transport industries.
  • Use functional modelling tools, such as Rhapsody to define the architecture.
  • Experience in managing the delivery of the system architecture definition, including guiding other systems engineers and co-ordinating supporting engineering disciplines and subject matter experts
  • Interfacing with stakeholders, including customers or suppliers

Additional knowledgeable skills:

  • Knowledge of defining software requirements, software interfaces and architectures
  • Understanding of missile-related functionality: Launch, Separation & Gather, Mid-Course Guidance, Guidance and Homing
  • Recognised systems engineering expertise
  • Degree in Stem subject or equivalent with relevant experience
  • Experience of working in AGILE teams and applying AGILE frameworks

What you'll get to do as a Systems Architect (L4):

  • Requirements and Use Case analysis
  • Functional modelling using SysML language (or equivalent) to define Activity Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, State Diagrams and Block Diagrams
  • Interfaces definition; System architecture design
  • Model-based engineering techniques, including MBSE
