The UK's trusted Ministry of Defence partner, MBDA, are looking for an experienced UK IM Infrastructure (CPM) to define, establish and operate a Capacity and Performance Management discipline in MBDA-UK. These duties will include the need to market and promote the requirements and the importance of discipline across the decision-makers and consumers in the UK. The candidate will collaborate widely with other MBDA service owners in the UK and other countries and will also work closely with our MSP's.

As a UK IM Infrastructure (CPM), the successful candidate will analyse 'on-premises' physical and virtual infrastructure components such as servers, storage and the applications and databases that run on those components. In addition, you will also be highly capable of monitoring and analysing performance issues within Network and Cloud environments.

What you'll get to do as a UK IM Infrastructure Capacity & Performance manager (CPM):

Define & Establish:

  • Create high-level processes & flows with supporting documentation that describes the To-Be MBDA process for CPM. This includes tools, data sources and CPM management reporting.
  • Create a high-level guide that describes the performance monitoring and analysis techniques to be used to create performance baselines for all the in-scope devices
  • Create and give presentations to MBDA service owners and suppliers to market and promote the Capacity & Performance Management function; its needs, outputs, dependencies, and benefits to MBDA.
  • Create a CSIP Plan for the CPM function

Execute:

  • Understanding of the current usage of the infrastructure and IT services and the maximum capacity of each component
  • Liaise with Incident and Problem management to assess the impact of Capacity related threshold breaches
  • Accumulate information for all new or changed infrastructures and define expansion requirements
  • Perform trend analysis, estimate overall growth (decrease) of user demand
  • Forecasting future capacity requirements based on business plans, usage trends, sizing of new services, etc.
  • From capacity, requirements generate a Bill of Materials that would be input to resource procurement.
  • Production of regular review and revision of the Capacity Plan, in line with the organisation's business planning cycle, identifying current usage, and forecast requirements during the period covered by the plan

Operational Role:

  • Monitor and analyse capacity consumption; generate capacity and performance reporting and be responsible for ensuring that services and infrastructure can deliver the agreed service level targets for capacity and performance in a cost effective and timely manner (Service & Component Capacity management).
  • Work with MBDA service owners, suppliers, and Business Leads to create a Demand Management (Business Capacity) process that also realises the delivery of forecasted/predicted Capacity Services that meet the combined capacity forecast.
  • Provides provide analysis and reporting on Capacity Management Processes to IM & IS functional areas, with information related to services and resource capacity, utilisation, and performance. The role is also responsible for creating and managing the repository/access of all Capacity Management data.

What we're looking for:

  • Extensive knowledge, understanding and subject matter expertise including but not limited to:
  • Availability, Capacity and Performance Management principles and methodology
  • System Management technologies
  • ITIL V4 Foundation qualified
  • Proven track record of running an effective Capacity and Performance Management function
  • Capable of establishing a Capacity and Performance Management service
  • Experience in process ownership and delivering process functions
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Familiarity with Project Management Approaches and the project delivery life cycle
  • Familiarity with the SDLC (Service Delivery Life Cycle)
  • You must be a UK national or citizen to be eligible for the role.
