Part Time Hours: 2-3 days a week, 7.5 or 5 hours per day

Flexible working hours can be agreed around core hours 8.40am-5pm

Location: Corby, Northamptonshire, NN17 1NN, (Home based until after the Covid lock down - phased office return)

What do we do?

We are a unique place to work - we're a local authority organisation and We are seeking an experienced surveyor to deal with land disposals and acquisitions on behalf of Corby & Kettering Borough Council. You will be a trusted professional within the Assets team for the proactive management of the Councils land and property portfolios, carrying out valuations for statutory and non-statutory purposes including asset valuations, insurance valuations, option and viability appraisals for property reviews and development purposes.

What is the role?

  • To carry out (or engage external professionals for that purpose) in a timely and caseload managed manner, commercial and residential valuations in accordance with professional practice and procedure and corporate guidelines.
  • Complete lease renewals, rent review, new lettings, lease assignments statutory and other general estate management services as directed by the Head of Service.
  • To be knowledgeable in the use of electronic estate management and asset planning systems.
  • Complete development appraisals and analysing and negotiating those prepared by external third parties.
  • Procure outside professional services and direct, manage these appointments ensuring the provision of timely, professional and relevant estate management and asset development advice.
  • Help guide the administration staff of CB Property to achieve a high degree of personal and corporate performance and professionalism.
  • Critically evaluate practice and procedure in managing the corporate estate and assist in bringing forward strategic and tactical plans for delivering continuous performance improvement. To be cognizant of regional and national benchmarks of good practice and help align CB Property's with same
  • Negotiate land and property disposals including preparing comprehensive Heads of Terms and instructing solicitors.
  • Prepare Reports for Committee and help develop and expand the role of property 'Client' including instructing fellow service areas, driving cross-boundary corporate property and regeneration initiatives including engaging directly with private sector partners.

What you will need?

  • Degree level qualification ( or equivalent experience)
  • Member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors
  • RICS Registered Valuer
  • Experience of valuing and then negotiating disposal land for a variety of commercial and residential uses, as well as land acquisitions.
  • A good understanding of the legal and planning processes linked to these activities.
  • Experience of dealing with other land matters such as covenants is essential.
  • Experience of asset management work within a Local Authority portfolio is desirable
  • Excellent report writing skills
