Volunteer Coordinator

Circa £23,500 per annum + Inner London Weighting Allowance (minimum of £4,326)
Full Time, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with an element of flexibility required.

The role
Action for Children does what's right, does what's needed and does what works for children in the UK. Every year, our team changes the lives of 370,000 children, young people and families.
The London Independent Visitors Consortium is a volunteer-based service based in Hackney. This project oversees, supervises and coordinates around 150 volunteers spread across 11 local authorities. These volunteers are assigned to befriend a child for a minimum of 2 years at a time.
You will make a difference by:
- Recruiting inspiring volunteers who can act as positive role models to children in care.
- Overseeing the activities between the volunteers and young people, ensuring they are safe, stimulating and fun.
- Demonstrating the benefits of the service to social work teams and commissioners and facilitating ongoing referrals.
- Ensuring young people in care are benefitting from supportive and caring relationships with their volunteers that positively impact their wellbeing and life chances.
-Publicising and promoting volunteering opportunities with individuals, community groups, professionals and other relevant agencies and to scrutinise applications form potential volunteers.
You will need:
- A minimum Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care or equivalent in a related field (e.g. teaching).
- Experience and /or skills in volunteer recruitment, training and supervision would be an advantage.
- Ability to liaise with a wide range of individuals (e.g. social workers, foster carers, young people).
- Excellent writing skills (e.g. to compile quarterly reports to local authorities).
- A positive and caring attitude.
