Wing Design Engineer

Location: Filton (minimum 60% onsite)

Working Hours: 35 hours per week, 4.5 days (between 7am - 7pm, flexible within business needs)

Pay Rate: £37.38 per hour (PAYE) or£52.00 per hour (Umbrella)

Security Clearance: BPSS+ (completed by Airbus Security)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural design of aircraft wings, ensuring all solutions meet airworthiness and product requirements, and adhere to Design Quality Assurance Criteria.
  • Define, deliver, and support technical studies, trade-offs, and investigations using established design methods and procedures.
  • Manage and deliver design changes, ensuring timely release and closure of modifications to meet cost, quality, and schedule targets.
  • Provide design leadership to both internal and external teams, championing Lean Engineering initiatives such as 'Right First Time' and lead time reduction.
  • Organise and govern design and maturity reviews in line with Airbus policies and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, creativity, and risk management, enabling effective decision-making in complex stakeholder networks.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in wing structure design, ideally within Airbus or similar aerospace environments.
  • Strong track record of delivering projects to time, cost, and quality standards.
  • Ability to find creative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Skilled in risk management and confident in making decisions that drive project success.
  • Experience with design toolsets such as CATIA V5, ICC, Zamiz, ECM, Solings, and PASS.
  • Recognised industry design signatory delegation (Design Approval/Authorisation) is essential.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence technical experts and stakeholders.
