The role

Herefordshire Intensive Placement Support Service (HIPSS) provides therapeutic support to looked-after children and young people, their families and foster carers. At HIPSS we work with children and young people aged 6-18 years with complex needs. We support those placements that need extra support to understand the young people they care for. This includes exploring their social, emotional or mental health needs.

As a Young Person's Practitioner, you will therapeutically work directly with young people who are accessing our service. You will be expected to uphold the core values and beliefs of the organisation, ensuring that children, young people and their families receive a high-quality service.


You will make a difference by:

- Being responsible for delivering high quality therapeutic intervention to children and young people with complex needs.

- Being part of our multi-disciplinary team and working as part of this team approach is an important aspect of this role.

You will need:

- Min NVQ level 3 in childcare, family support or health and social care or equivalent experience.

- Flexible working hours (occasional evening / weekend )to meet the needs of the service users.

- Experience working within a social care or health environment with vulnerable young people aged 6-18 and families.

- Experience of working within a multi-agency environment.

- Understanding of and experience of applying safeguarding procedures.

- Experience of delivering outcome-based programmes or initiatives.

- Experience of writing reports, planning and reviewing to ensure positive outcomes.

- Car driver is essential due to travel requirements.

- Knowledge of DDP, PACE and attachment theory (desirable).

- Experience of working therapeutically with young people (desirable).
