The role

Airplay is the RAF Benevolent Funds £24 million youth support programme for RAF families, providing a huge range of facilities, equipment and activities for children and young people.

Airplay Youth Support at RAF Cranwell provides young people with the opportunity to participate in a range of arts and crafts, sports based activities, competitions, games, trips and residentials. Sessions are delivered in evenings during the school term and daytime and residential activities are offered during school holiday periods.

The successful applicant will develop and implement a range of innovative, high quality personally challenging activities to that meets the needs of young people from the RAF community, and to encourage and enable their participation.



You will make a difference by:

- Developing and delivering a programme of imaginative activities that encourage the active participation of young people from the RAF community in developing their skills, personal and social development.

- Promoting opportunities for accreditation for children and young people by providing access to recognised award programmes to support, accredit and celebrate their learning and achievement.

- Providing regular reports to monitor progress and evidence good practice against key performance indicators in accordance with the Airplay Youth Support Youth Offer.

- Supporting sessional staff who will be delivering both Junior and Senior youth provision and play work, holding regular meetings to review progress and identify training requirements.

- Contributing to the development of opportunities for youth participation by involving young people in the decision-making processes whereby individuals and groups take on responsibilities for themselves and others in their project and the wider community.



You will need:

- Level 3 Youth Work Qualification desirable but not essential.

- At least 2 years' experience of working with young people and managing youth projects.

- The ability to understand physical, intellectual, linguistic, social and emotional growth as part of child and young person development.

- Experience of being a visible, effective and approachable manager and leader.

- An ability to work in an open an honest manner in line with organisational values.
