The role
Haviland Way provides a home from home setting for children and young people between the ages of 8 to 19 years old, who have learning, physical disabilities, complex health or behavioural needs in a comfortable and safe environment. It offers shared care, long-term and short break respite care to a maximum of four children and young people per night. Haviland Way is equipped with a ball pool, sensory room, quiet rooms, computer room and large themed gardens to encourage the service users to participate in leisure and recreational activities.
As an Assistant Residential Worker, you will help our team provide a safe and caring environment, supporting the children and young adults with household tasks and all aspects of their care.
You will make a difference by:
- Helping to create a homely environment which nurtures, supports and develops young people to reach their full potential.
- Supporting with medical needs and providing personal care including administering medication, dressing, feeding, bathing and toileting.
- Completing care plans and ensuring they are regularly reviewed and updated.
- Providing a safe environment for young people to enjoy time with their friends whilst developing their independence.
- Planning and delivering fun activities for our young people to participate in.
- Participating in regular team meetings and training to ensure the highest level of care is provided.
- Promoting independence and Equality & Diversity throughout the service.
You will need:
- NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare, Health and Social Care or willingness to complete qualification.
- Experience of working with children or adults in care / with disabilities is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
- A caring and resilient nature with commitment to improving young people's lives.
- Welcoming personality with the ability to relate to children.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and adjust to changing priorities.
- A real compassionate and positive attitude is a MUST.
