The role
Warwickshire Disability is a registered Children's Home offering residential overnight short breaks for children and young people with severe learning disabilities and complex needs. With a homely welcoming environment which makes the children feel safe which allows them to have fun enjoying different activities. Our aim is to provide positive, life enhancing experiences, and the staff team are committed to putting children at the heart of everything we do.
As an Assistant Residential Worker, you will help our team provide a safe and caring environment, supporting the children and young adults with household tasks and all aspects of their care.
You will make a difference by:
- Working individually and as part of a team to provide responsive, high quality and person centred care to children, young people and their families.
- Monitoring children and young people overnight during their stay.
- Providing personal care, administering medication and carrying out clinical procedures.
- Building and maintaining professional working relationships and providing emotional, social and practical support to young people who can display challenging emotional and social difficulties.
- Ensuring that the views and needs of children and young people are heard and responded to by promoting communication and participation.
- Contributing to the development and evaluation of care plans.
- Recording observations and maintaining up to date files.
- Promoting independence and Equality & Diversity throughout the service.
You will need
- Relevant qualification in Social Care to at least Level 3 or a willingness to undertake relevant qualification within one year of being appointed.
- Experience in the provision of services for disabled children, young people or adults.
- An awareness of the Children's Home Regulations including Quality Standards, legal frameworks relating to children and young people and application of Health & Safety legislation.
- A caring and resilient nature with commitment to improving young people's lives.
- Welcoming personality with the ability to relate to children.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and adjust to changing priorities.
- A real compassionate and positive attitude is a MUST.
