The UK's trusted Ministry of Defence partner, MBDA, are looking for a skilled Business & Project Manager to manage responsibilities for the Project Management activities, defining, planning, directing, and delivering projects within the relevant area, against targets through rigorous cost control, schedule adherence and the management of international stakeholder interfaces at the state-of-the-art site in Bristol.

What you'll get to do as a Business & Project Manager:

  • Providing Project Management excellence within the multi-disciplined engineering teams
  • Coordinating the necessary Project Management activities within a monthly cycle
  • Analysing the data from plan updates and changes, guiding actions to maintain and improve schedule and cost adherence.
  • Managing the compilation and approval of development Cost Brochures during the bidding phase for new work
  • Having the ability to influence others outside of direct line management reporting
  • Effective interfacing and reporting with stakeholders across all levels and international boundaries where necessary

What we're looking for:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent with more than two years' experience working in a Project Management environment - ideally associated with Product Development in the defence sector.
  • Experience in bidding and customer negotiations
  • Relevant experience with project management tools and practices
  • A problem solver with good verbal, written and presentational skills
  • Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • You must be a UK national or citizen to be eligible for the role.

Additional:

  • Project /Programme Management experience - ideally gained in a matrix organisation.
  • Strong risk management skills and knowledge
  • Sound business judgement and appreciation of complex problems
  • Strong communication and motivational skills
  • Ability to embrace new challenges and deal with a level of ambiguity
  • Experience managing projects from a business perspective, including EVM, schedule adherence and risk assessments.
  • Negotiating and influencing skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships and work collaboratively across various levels in an organisation
  • Drive and motivation in leading project teams to strive for excellence in the face of adversity
  • Engage, share the standard methodology and find opportunities for innovation

MBDA's relationship with the UK military spans back over 70 years. They have delivered countless landmarks in defence engineering, supplying vital defence capability to meet the needs of the armed forces over land, sea, and air.
